Time For A Change

August 14, 2020 was my last day as Director of the Reading Hospital Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, where I served as Team Leader since its inception in 2008.

To Our Reading Hospital ACT Program Participants:

It has been my privilege to work with the hundreds of seriously mentally ill (SMI) individuals from Berks County who have graduated from our program and gone on to live amazing, fulfilling lives in the community. Having worked with some of our Participants for a decade or more, I know they are some of the funniest, most caring, creative people I’ve met, and I will miss them dearly.

To the Present and Past Reading Hospital ACT Team Staff:

It has also been my honor to work with some of the finest RNs, Master’s Therapists, Housing and Vocational Specialists, Peer Specialists and Psychiatrists in the field of Community Psychiatry. For over 12 years, their talent, dedication and hard work fostered an environment in which our clients flourished. I can only hope our paths will continue to cross.

Best wishes to the ACT Program as it enters the next phase of serving the Berks County, PA community.

I Am Now Dedicating Myself Full-Time to The Expansion of My Private Practice in Ephrata

I Have Expanded My Long Standing Telecounseling Practice For Anxiety To a Lancaster County Office

Therapy for Mood Disorders, Addictions, Relationships Issues

My goal in therapy is for you to learn the skills you need to better handle problematic aspects of your life. These can include painful mood symptoms, addictions, phobias, relationship problems, and so many others. In therapy, we will set a long-term goal, or what you ultimately hope to accomplish. We will then set shorter term goals to work on, to reach that ultimate goal. As therapy continues, we regularly evaluate how we’re doing and troubleshoot when necessary.

Primarily, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat mood and anxiety disorders, with an option for exposure therapy to treat anxiety/phobia disorders. For substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, I utilize a variety of techniques, and I require a goal of abstinence and strongly encourage 12-Step or SMART recovery meeting attendance.

During your first appointment we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and I will ask you for details about what is causing you discomfort as well as for background information. We will discuss what you hope to achieve in therapy and I will give you an idea of how we would work together to meet that goal. Call toll-free (844.321.8777) for more information.
