About Me

About Me

Education

I graduated from Penn State with a BA in Psychology, and from LaSalle University in Phila. with a Masters Degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology.

Settings I’ve Practiced In

Over the last 20+ years my practice has taken me from inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment settings in the suburbs of Phila, to village based therapy in rural Alaska, before bringing me back to PA.

I’ve been fortunate in having the opportunity to combine my love of travel and the outdoors with my love of teaching, counseling, and learning about different cultures. For 12 years I was Director of an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, maintaining a small private practice for the last five.

About Counseling With Me

My most successful CBT counseling clients in my Lancaster County practice are those individuals who are motivated to change or recognize the need for change; but aren’t sure what to do. If depression, anxiety, or even just the problems of everyday life are overwhelming you, I can help you get back on track, and learn the tools to stay on track with your life.
My clients typically are professionals and individuals whose personal journey towards their goals have been side-lined by mood disorders such as depression or bi-polar disorders, anxiety and panic; or substance abuse and other addictive disorders.

About My Life

I’ve lived in Berks County with my wife and, now, teenaged daughter since 2006. We have two dogs, a Yellow Lab named Bella, and a rescue dog named Leo.

In my free time, I enjoy exploring the wild trout streams in the area with a flyrod and camera. I have had the opportunity to fly fish across much of the US, Alaska, Central America and the Caribbean.

I enjoy traveling both by myself and with my family. At least, we enjoyed it prior to COVID. In 2019, my daughter and I visited Beijing, China, and Tokyo, Japan.

My Background

I have worked in almost every setting in both inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance abuse.

About Travelers Psychological Services

I began Travelers Psychological Services in 2017 to meet the needs of the population that experiences anxiety in travel, especially airplanes and airports.

Treatment for Fear of Flying and Travel Anxiety

I specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of travel related phobias.  With 20+ years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have the experience, specialized training and skills to differentiate between specific phobias, generalized anxiety, panic disorder, PTSD, depressive disorder, and many others.

I have learned through experience to integrate multiple treatment techniques to address your specific issues. Additionally, I have flown an average of at least 50,000 miles a year for the past several years.  Mostly just for fun.  I know travel.  I’ve flown in nearly every commercial airplane currently in use.  I’ve been to six continents.

In 2018, I flew halfway around the world and back, mainly to enjoy flying in planes and on airlines I haven’t experienced before. What that means to you is that not only do I have the clinical skills to treat your specific disorder, I can show you how to make your new found ability to travel fun.
